Poem 3 — When She Saw That the Children of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib Had Come

Union with you and meeting you are the sweetest joy of my life; I do not taste the sweetness of life until I see you.

My eyes fear no one among people except you; and no beloved besides you brings delight to my heart.

All your effort I place upon my head and eyes; and who is there that would disobey you in your affairs?

Know that all of me is reckoned as belonging to you; my soul and my wealth, O my beloved, are sacrificed for you.

No beloved besides you dwells in my heart's core; and if you wish to examine my heart, here it is for you.
