The Second Poem — Recited when, in that very state, the door-knocker was struck

❝O wind of the south — perhaps some knowledge of

my beloved ones would quench a part of my burning.❞

❝Why did they not send me a greeting by your hand,

that I might purchase it even with my life?❞

❝By the right of the love I bear him, I am one who conceals;

I do not disclose my secret even to him.❞

❝May God bring my union with him near —

how much ease has come after every hardship!❞

❝A single day of separation from you is as a month to me;

and a month of union with you is as an entire age.❞
