Which House Was Burned?

Part 4

In the Glorious Book it is said:

«فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ» [1]

It is narrated that the Prophet (blessings of Allah upon him and his family) was present in the mosque. A man rose and asked: «أَيُّ بُيُوتٍ هَذِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟» — which houses are meant?

He said: ⚜️ «بُيُوتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ» — the houses of the prophets.

💢 Then Abu Bakr rose and, pointing to the house of Ali and Fatima, asked: «وَهَذَا الْبَيْتُ مِنْهَا؟» — and is this house among them?

He said: ⚜️ «نَعَمْ مِنْ أَفَاضِلِهَا» [2] — yes, among the very best of them.

And elsewhere he said: «هِيَ بُيُوتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ، وَ بَيْتُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ» [3]

And when the verse of purification was revealed:

«إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ
وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا» [4]

— for six months, every morning, the Prophet (blessings of Allah upon him and his family) would spread his prayer mat facing the door of the Fatimid house, which stood at the qiblah-point of the mosque, and pray; and then, standing at his full height and with reverence, he would say:

«السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ بَيْتِ النُّبُوَّةِ» [5]

💢 And Satan knows well which place to set alight.

Muhammad (blessings of Allah upon him and his family) has known this door from of old. This is the door of the house of him who raises the cry «أَنَا الْكَعْبَةُ» [6] — I am the reality of the Ka'bah. This door is the <bab hittah> of the community [7].

Whoever Fatima (peace be upon her) permits to enter is saved within an impregnable fortress; all others are dwellers in the depths of the Fire. This is the dwelling place of the Gate of Allah [8].

And this door is an isthmus. A door whose inward is the absolute mercy of Allah — the embrace of the mother of existence — and beyond which, on the far side, lies punishment and the fire of Hell [9].

💢 Is it not so that these accursed ones have a coffin in the depths of Hell, and that whenever the lid of that coffin is opened the fire blazes up and engulfs the people of the Fire? [10]
