Hadrat Abdul Azim Hasani (p)
The anniversary of his blessed birth
💫 Congratulations on the 4th of Rabi al-Thani, the anniversary of the blessed birth of Hadrat Abd al-Azim al-Hasani, a descendant of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon Him).
🌹 In describing his greatness it is enough that Imam Ali al-Naqi (peace be upon Him) held the reward of visiting him to be like the reward of visiting Hadrat Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (peace be upon Him):
❝ I came before Abu al-Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon Him). He said: "Where have you been?" I said: "I had gone to visit Imam Husayn (peace be upon Him)."
He said: "Know that had you visited the grave of Abd al-Azim, which is near you, you would have been like one who visited Husayn ibn Ali (peace be upon Them both)." ❞

✨ In the noble book Mafatih al-Jinan he is described thus:
"His grave in Rayy is known and renowned, a refuge and a sanctuary for the generality of people, and the loftiness of his station and the majesty of his rank are clearer than the sun — for besides being of the household of the Seal of the Prophets, he is among the greatest of the traditionists, the most eminent of the scholars, the ascetics and the worshippers, and a man of scrupulousness and God-wariness."
🌹 He was in the company of Imam al-Rida, Imam al-Jawad and Imam Ali al-Naqi (peace be upon Them all). It is narrated that one day a man came before Imam al-Naqi (peace be upon Him) and asked Him about matters of what was lawful and unlawful for him. The Imam answered him, and at the moment of farewell said to him:
❝ O Hammad, whenever you find difficulty in some matter of your religion, ask Abd al-Azim al-Hasani about it, and convey My greetings to him. ❞

📜 Al-Najashi, in his book of Rijal, writes concerning the manner of his life:
"Hadrat Abd al-Azim, while fleeing from the ruler of his time, entered the city of Rayy and lodged in a cellar in the house of one of the Shia in the quarter of the Ghuraba. There he occupied himself with worship: he fasted by day, and spent his nights in prayer and whispered supplication. In the darkness of the night he would go out in secret and visit a grave which now lies opposite his own, no more than a few paces away — the grave of Hamza, son of Imam Musa al-Kazim (peace be upon Him) — and he would say: this is the grave of one of the sons of Musa ibn Jafar (peace be upon Them both).
He lived in that cellar for a time, and the Shia came to learn of him one by one, until most of the Shia of that district had come to know him. Then one of them saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him and His family) in a dream, and He said to him: 'A man of My descendants will be carried from the quarter of the strangers and buried in the garden of Abd al-Jabbar ibn Abd al-Wahhab, beside an apple tree that stands there' — and He pointed with His hand to that place.
When the man arose, he went to the garden of Abd al-Jabbar to buy from its owner the site of the grave and that apple tree. The owner of the garden asked: 'Why do you want this?' He said: 'I have seen such a dream,' and he related the account. The owner of the garden said: 'I too have seen such a dream. I have made the place of this tree and the whole garden an endowment for that sayyid and for the Shia, that they may be buried in it.'
Some time later Abd al-Azim — may Allah have mercy upon him — fell ill and passed away. When they were preparing him for the ritual washing, they found in his pocket a note on which was written: 'I am Abu al-Qasim Abd al-Azim, son of Abd Allah, son of Ali, son of Hasan, son of Zayd, son of Hasan, son of Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon them).'"
